Now living in Providence, Kentucky,
Harold and Susan have a love for
medieval craftsmanship and history.  They
have recently created an authentic copy
of the sporran that enters Jacob Boyd's
life and which contains secrets even
Jacob has not yet discovered.
If you have ever worn a kilt, you would know that one thing a kilt
does not have is pockets!

So, how would a Highlander carry his supplies with no pockets?
Well, he would wear a belt or chain around his waist with a pouch
hanging in front.  Literally, sporran means "purse" in Scottish
Gaelic.

Most today are worn as a part of a dress kilt and serve little
purpose but decoration.  However, a sporran can come in very
handy even in the modern world.  Its great to carry a wallet, cell
phone, notebook and pen, or maybe a little snack.

But beware: Things have been known to disappear after entering
certain sporrans . . . just ask Jacob Boyd where his MacGregor
regulation size and weight baseball might be these days!
